All-inclusive beach resorts have nothing on a good old-fashioned road trip with your number one. Whether you want to head up the coast, across the country, or through the desert, our team at Mark Wahlberg RV has a top-tier RV road trip waiting for you and your sweetheart below.

Tropics Meet Road Trips: Miami to Key West

What’s more romantic than a tropical vacation? You’ll feel like you’re gliding over the clear blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico when you drive the RV down the 113-mile Overseas Highway.

Set sail from Miami and island hop all the way down the Florida Keys. Before you reach your final destination of Key West, make sure to stop at:

  • John Pennekamp Park in Key Largo for some up-close aquatic interaction.
  • Rain Barrel Artisan Village in Islamorada for some one-of-a-kind mementos.
  • The Green Turtle Inn, an ultra-popular seafood spot known for its turtle chowder.

Once you arrive at the westernmost Key, you’ll need a few days to see all that this tiny island has to offer. Explore the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum or take a charter boat out to Dry Tortugas National Park.

Utah’s Scenic Byway 12: Panguitch to Torrey

High-ho, high-ho, off to the desert we go! This 120-mile road trip takes you through some of the most majestic red rock scenery in the world. Wind through some of the most popular national and state parks in the country, including:

  • Bryce Canyon National Park.
  • Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.
  • Kodachrome Basin State Park.
  • Escalante Petrified Forest State Park.
  • Capitol Reef National Park.

Book out at least one whole day to hike at each spot and pack plenty of water. Round out your romantic rocky road trip with a relaxing stay at the Torrey Schoolhouse Bed & Breakfast Inn, a beautiful, refurbished schoolhouse built by pioneers of the west.

Highway 1: Seattle to San Diego

The Pacific Coast Highway stretches from the southernmost part of California up the Pacific coast to Mendocino. With Big SurSan Francisco, and Sonoma wine country on that route, that stretch is well worth the trip on its own.

However, those looking for a longer trip and a variety of views should consider the 1,250-mile trek from Seattle to San Diego. Some highlights to add to that SoCal list above include:

  • Olympic National Park with three unique ecosystems and plenty of hiking to enjoy.
  • Scenic Oregon Coast, including Cannon Beach, Cape Kiwanda, and the Devil’s Punchbowl.
  • Redwood National and State Parks offering views of some of the world’s tallest trees.
  • Monterey Bay, CA, home to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and world-famous Cannery Row.

In it for the Long Haul: Route 66

Couples with a few longer road trips under their belt can handle the long-haul that is Route 66. If you’re looking for something epic, set out for nearly 2,500 miles of fun stretching from Chicago to Santa Monica, California. Give yourself a couple of weeks to make a variety of stops, including:

  • Gateway Arch in St. Louis, Missouri—Tram to the top of the world’s largest arch.
  • Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, Texas—Spray paint your name onto this evolving art piece.
  • The Blue Hole in Santa Rosa, New Mexico—Make sure you pack your scuba gear!
  • Calico Ghost Town in California—Explore a real mining ghost town from the 1890s.

End your trip in sunny Santa Monica, home to various beach-side RV resorts. Be sure to hit the boardwalk and the pier before you get back on the road!
