Learn more about how we’re helping this organization memorialize the fallen and support those who are still actively laying down their lives for ours.
The Story of Stephen Siller
On the morning of September 11, 2001, Stephen Siller had just wrapped up his overnight firefighting shift with the Brooklyn Squad 1. However, his drive to meet his brothers for a round of golf outside the city was interrupted when the first plane flew into the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
Compelled by his dedication to his squad and his city, he raced on foot carrying 60 pounds of equipment from the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers. There, he gave his own life to help those who were victimized by the attack on the World Trade Center.
Though Stephen Siller left this world that day, he is still memorialized through the Tunnel to Towers Foundation which was founded in honor of his sacrifice. This 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization has raised more than $250 million since its establishment for America’s heroes and their families.

The Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk in New York City represents the final footsteps taken by Stephen Siller from the Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers that fateful day in September 2001. Here are some more details so you can make your way to the starting line (and finish line) on time:
WHO: Anyone who registers on the Eventbrite page
WHAT: A 3.5-mile run and walk through New York City
WHEN: Sunday, September 26, 2021, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
WHERE: Ikea Parking Lot 9 Red Hook Brooklyn at 1 Beard St. Brooklyn, NY 11231
The why of this event is simple: to support those who sacrifice their lives every day for us. Registration fees and funds raised by participants go to the greater Tunnel to Towers mission of supporting firefighters and other volunteers around the country.
Non-Stop Support
In addition to their annual Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk in New York City, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation holds an array of other fundraising events throughout the year, including:
